Large famille rose porcelain Canton planter.

The decoration consists of two identical scenes repeated intermittently. One of the scenes depicts floral elements with peonies, long tailed birds and butterflies; while the other one depicts a scene in a garden peopled with 11 characters.

The quality of the painting is exceptionally refined as can be seen by the individual expresions of the characters depicted.

The weight and absence of markings suggests that this piece was made between 1830 and 1890.
