Rare Antique Etched 22 K Gold 2 Tiered and Tidbit Porcelain Tray Handmade Hand Painted Men and Women Love Story Signed Osborne and Stamps Artist
This unusual antique heavy etched gold 2 tiered porcelain cheese and cracker tidbit serving tray was decorated in Chicago by Osborne Studio during the first quarter of the 20th century. The top tier features a hand painted image depicting a bouquet of pink roses arranged in a brown woven basket. The basket has a pink ribbon tied in a bow at the top of the handle. The floral motif includes blue flowers along with green foliage. The gilt decoration present on the rest of the piece has been finished with an etched floral and foliate motif.

The cheese and cracker tibit tray is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. As an antique item, the piece shows signs of age/use consisting of tarnish to the gilding on the stem supporting top tier and light marks to the back that are mentioned for accuracy. There are also anomalies in the decoration related to production including a pinpoint glaze pop on the surface of the top tier to the left of the basket and a small area on the underside of the rim where the gilding was irregularly applied. The underside of the piece is clearly marked with the early Osborne Studio signature "Osborne" executed in script. It also bears a "Schwarzburg" stamp indicating the German porcelain manufacturer who created the 2-tiered blank.
