
This collection consists of 20 vintage accordion-fold souvenir mailing folders and printed postcards documenting mid-century American tourism. Featured locations include Philadelphia, Johnstown, and Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania; Miami, Silver Springs, and the Overseas Highway, Florida; Annapolis, Maryland; Chicago, Illinois; Northern Arizona; Yosemite, California; Mt. Washington, New Hampshire; Plattsburgh, New York; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Washington D.C. Notable publishers represented are Curt Teich & Co. in their signature linen "Art-Colortone" style, Tichnor Bros., and American Art Post Card Co. Several pieces are postally used with 1926 and 1949 postmarks, including folders addressed to Suzanne Childs at St. Mary's School for the Deaf and a folder from the 1926 Sesqui-Centennial. The set also includes an early 1970s Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom folder, showcasing the evolution of travel ephemera over fifty years.
