Bill Clinton Impeachment Signed House Report Typescript
Signature
Souvenir Typescript, bearing the signature of Bill Clinton the 42nd President of the United States. The commemorative imprint made to resemble the report features the cover of the official House of Representatives Judiciary Committee Report which pertains to H. Res. 611, the resolution outlining the impeachment of William Jefferson Clinton. Signed boldly in blue ink as “Bill Clinton.” Measures to an overall size of 5.75” x 7.75”. Fine.
The impeachment of President Bill Clinton was one of the most significant political events in modern U.S. history. Stemming from his affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky and subsequent attempts to conceal it, the scandal led to charges of perjury and obstruction of justice. On December 19, 1998, the House of Representatives voted to impeach Clinton, making him only the second U.S. president to be impeached, after Andrew Johnson in 1868. The case then moved to the Senate trial, which began in January 1999. On February 12, 1999, the Senate acquitted Clinton on both charges, falling short of the two-thirds majority needed for removal from office. Clinton completed his second term, but the impeachment left a lasting impact on American politics, the presidency, and public discourse on personal and political ethics.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
