Arthur Reginald Evans (1905–1996) was an Australian Coastwatcher stationed in the Solomon Islands during World War II. Alongside fellow Coastwatcher Biuku Gasa, Evans helped locate and assist the stranded crew of PT-109 after Lt. John F. Kennedy’s patrol boat was sunk by a Japanese destroyer. Their actions were instrumental in saving Kennedy and his crew and became one of the defining episodes of Kennedy’s wartime service, later cited as a formative chapter in his leadership legacy.
A historically important World War II and Kennedy-era cover linking the future president directly to the Coastwatchers who helped save his life.
