Marilyn Monroe original vintage 8 x 10” gelatin silver U.S. Army press photograph, depicting Monroe smiling and greeting photographers as she exits an aircraft during her 1954 arrival in Tokyo, Japan. The image captures Monroe at the height of her global fame, during her honeymoon trip with baseball legend Joe DiMaggio, and was produced by the U.S. Army Signal Corps for official distribution to the press.
This photograph is PSA/DNA encapsulated and designated Type I, confirming it as a first-generation print developed from the original negative within the period of the event. The PSA label notes DiMaggio Collection provenance, and the verso bears an original Christie’s auction sale sticker. The reverse also retains the original U.S. Army caption and credit, consistent with Signal Corps-issued imagery from this period.
