Evelyn Lincoln personally owned 4.25 x 3.25 inch snapshot photograph depicting the U.S. Capitol with the American flag flying at half-staff during funeral observances for Dwight D. Eisenhower. The image presents a quiet, documentary street-level view of Washington, D.C., with period traffic visible in the foreground and the Capitol dome centered in the distance.

The verso bears a handwritten caption by Lincoln reading: “Capitol, April 14, ’69. Flag at half-staff for Gen. Eisenhower’s death.”

Evelyn Lincoln (1909–1995) served as the longtime personal secretary to John F. Kennedy, both as senator and president. She was a trusted gatekeeper of Kennedy’s schedule and correspondence and later played a significant role in preserving the historical record of the Kennedy administration.
