Evelyn Lincoln (1909–1995) served as John F. Kennedy’s personal and confidential secretary from his Senate days in 1953 through his presidency until his assassination in 1963. Deeply trusted and constantly at JFK’s side, Lincoln managed his correspondence, appointments, dictation, travel, and private papers—preserving vast quantities of material now invaluable to historians. She was present in Dallas on November 22, 1963, and afterward became one of the chief guardians of Kennedy’s legacy. Her meticulously saved files formed the foundation of the renowned Robert L. White Collection.
