William Weisel autographed block of four 1978 United States Postal Service Robert F. Kennedy 15¢ commemorative stamps, boldly signed in black felt tip pen along the upper margin with the inscription “Best Wishes, Bill Weisel.” The block is fully intact with original perforations and displays strong contrast between the ink and the cream-colored selvedge.
Fine condition.
William Weisel was a longtime ABC News director who was present at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles on June 5, 1968, during the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy. While covering the event, Weisel was grazed by a stray bullet fired by Sirhan Sirhan, making him one of the lesser-known individuals physically wounded during the assassination. His proximity to the shooting places him among a small group of journalists and bystanders directly affected by one of the most consequential political assassinations in American history.
