Details:
Jack Ruby original 7.25 x 10” black-and-white Associated Press photograph depicting Ruby standing outside his Carousel Club in Dallas alongside two female performers, identified in the original AP caption as Kathy Kay (left), a showgirl, and a cigarette girl known only as “Alice.” The image was captured on the night of November 10 or 11, 1963, just days before Ruby would assassinate Lee Harvey Oswald in the basement of Dallas Police Headquarters.
The photograph bears the original Associated Press news caption affixed along the lower margin, reading in part: “Jack Ruby stands in front of his Carousel Club in Dallas…” Taken by AP photographer Eddie Rocco during a feature assignment documenting the club, the image presents a rare, unguarded glimpse of Ruby immediately prior to his sudden and infamous role in American history.
The verso includes original newsroom handling marks, Tribune cut order instructions, date stamps (January 1964), layout notations, and a pasted reference image used for publication planning.
Fine condition, with light edge wear and expected handling.
