Frank Sturgis original one-page handwritten manuscript in pencil, composed as a narrative summary addressing the late journalist Dorothy Kilgallen and her involvement in investigating the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
In the manuscript, Sturgis writes that in late 1965, while working as a columnist for The Washington Post, Dorothy Kilgallen interviewed Jack Ruby at length in the Dallas jail. He states that Kilgallen told friends she was “about to blow the JFK case sky high” following her conversations with Ruby. Sturgis asserts that within days of making these remarks, Kilgallen died of what was officially ruled a massive barbiturate overdose, classified as a suicide.
Sturgis further notes that Kilgallen’s New York apartment was found in disarray, and claims that notes from her Ruby interview disappeared following her death. He writes that Ruby later claimed he was being poisoned and ultimately died of a stroke in early 1967, framing these events as part of a troubling pattern connected to the suppression of information relating to the Kennedy assassination.
The manuscript presents Sturgis’s interpretation of Kilgallen’s role and fate and reflects the views commonly held among critics of the official assassination narrative.
Fine condition overall.
Frank Sturgis (1924–1993) was a former CIA operative and anti-Castro paramilitary who became infamous as one of the five Watergate burglars arrested in 1972 at the Democratic National Committee headquarters. Beyond Watergate, Sturgis has long been a subject of JFK assassination conspiracy theories due to his intelligence connections and murky activities in Cuba. Some theorists, including New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison, suspected him of involvement or knowledge relating to the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963. Though no official evidence ever linked him directly to the crime, his association with key figures and covert operations has kept his name prominent in speculative accounts of the event.
A compelling handwritten manuscript capturing Frank Sturgis’s personal account of Dorothy Kilgallen’s investigation into the JFK assassination and her sudden death.
