Clay Shaw autographed typed letter dated November 4, 1959, signed in blue ink as Managing Director of the International Trade Mart in New Orleans. The letter thanks Mrs. Jesse R. Core for a necktie sent to him and reflects Shaw’s professional correspondence during his tenure at the Trade Mart, a position that would later place him at the center of one of the most controversial chapters in American history.
Fine condition.
Clay Shaw (1913–1974) was a prominent New Orleans businessman and managing director of the International Trade Mart. In 1967, he became the only individual ever tried in connection with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, prosecuted by District Attorney Jim Garrison on conspiracy charges. Shaw was acquitted, but his name remains deeply intertwined with ongoing research, debate, and historical analysis surrounding the assassination. This signed letter predates those events and offers a rare, authentic example of Shaw’s handwriting from his professional life before the controversy that made him a lasting figure in JFK assassination history.
