John F. Kennedy assassination–era United Press International (UPI) teletype report dated November 23, 1963, transmitting President Kennedy’s final prepared message to the Democratic Party, released for publication by the White House following his assassination. The typed bulletin recounts Kennedy’s intended remarks to the Texas Democratic State Committee in Austin, excerpts from the unreleased speech, and contemporaneous commentary issued in the immediate aftermath of his death.
The teletype measures approximately 3.5 x 8.5 inches and bears the UPI identifier “UPI-152 (KennEDY SPEECH).” The content includes direct quotations attributed to Kennedy, notably emphasizing unity, national purpose, and confidence in America’s future—words that would become his final political message to the nation. Such press teletypes were distributed rapidly to newsrooms worldwide and were never intended for public preservation, making surviving examples especially scarce.
Fine condition.
John F. Kennedy (1917–1963) was the 35th President of the United States and remains one of the most consequential figures of the 20th century. His assassination on November 22, 1963, abruptly ended a presidency defined by Cold War leadership, civil rights advocacy, and the launch of the Apollo program. Original press materials documenting the immediate response to his death—particularly those preserving his final prepared words—are among the most historically significant artifacts of the Kennedy era.
