John F. Kennedy original printed Texas Welcome Dinner invitation, issued by the State Democratic Executive Committee, honoring President Kennedy and Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson. The invitation requests attendance at a formal dinner held at the Municipal Auditorium in Austin, Texas, on the evening of Friday, November 22, 1963, at half past seven o’clock.
The invitation is printed in elegant script and formally references both President Kennedy and Vice President Johnson, marking the final day of Kennedy’s Texas trip. This dinner was scheduled to take place just hours after Kennedy’s planned arrival in Dallas.
The invitation is accompanied by the original mailing envelope, postmarked Austin, Texas, December 14, 1962, bearing a Sam Rayburn 4¢ U.S. postage stamp and addressed in period ink.
