M. Nick McDonald was the Dallas Police Department officer who confronted and arrested Lee Harvey Oswald inside the Texas Theater on November 22, 1963, just hours after the assassination of John F. Kennedy. McDonald’s actions during Oswald’s capture were photographed, filmed, and widely reported, securing his place as one of the most historically significant officers in the case.
Jack Ruby (1911–1967), born Jack Leon Rubenstein, fatally shot Oswald on November 24, 1963, while Oswald was being transferred within Dallas Police headquarters. Ruby’s act silenced the accused assassin and forever altered the trajectory of the Kennedy assassination investigation.
