Missouri citizen Judith Hardy handwritten letter addressed to Jim Garrison, dated March 5, 1967, expressing gratitude and encouragement for his efforts pursuing justice in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Written from Hannibal, Missouri, the letter thanks Garrison for his courage in “going after the murderers of President Kennedy” and urges him not to stop until those responsible are brought to justice. Hardy notes her modest circumstances, explaining that she and her husband have four children and limited means, yet still encloses a contribution to support Garrison’s work, concluding with a promise of prayer and moral support.
The letter is accompanied by the original mailing envelope, hand-addressed to Garrison at the New Orleans District Attorney’s Office and postmarked March 1967. This piece represents a powerful example of grassroots public support during Garrison’s controversial and historically significant investigation into the Kennedy assassination.
Fine condition.
Jim Garrison (1921–1992) served as District Attorney of Orleans Parish and remains the only legal authority to bring charges related to the assassination of President Kennedy. His investigation, launched in 1966, challenged the conclusions of the Warren Commission and continues to influence public discourse, scholarship, and popular culture surrounding the events of November 22, 1963.
A compelling and emotionally resonant artifact linking ordinary citizens to one of the most debated criminal investigations in American history.
