A. H. “Buddy” Giesecke Jr. autographed typed letter signed (TLS), dated August 23, 1990, on official University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas Department of Anesthesiology letterhead, addressed to a schoolteacher responding to questions regarding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. In this detailed firsthand account, Giesecke recounts being at lunch when word arrived that the President had been shot, proceeding immediately to the emergency room at Parkland Hospital, and entering the room where Kennedy had been taken. He describes attaching an electrocardiographic monitor that showed no cardiac activity, recognizing the situation as hopeless, and the continuation of resuscitation efforts for approximately an hour before all physicians present abandoned hope. He further notes being called to assist Governor John Connally, who was taken to surgery and survived. The letter concludes with Giesecke’s clear endorsement of the Warren Commission, stating his belief that it “did an excellent job” and that subsequent theories ultimately reinforce its validity. Signed neatly in full at the conclusion as “A. H. Giesecke, M.D.”
