Gerald R. Ford autographed souvenir typed press release reproducing Executive Order No. 11130, issued by President Lyndon B. Johnson appointing the Warren Commission to investigate the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
The document reproduces the White House press release dated November 30, 1963, formally announcing the creation of the Commission and naming its members, including Chief Justice Earl Warren as Chairman, Senators Richard B. Russell and John Sherman Cooper, Congressman Hale Boggs, Congressman Gerald R. Ford, Allen W. Dulles, and John J. McCloy. The text outlines the Commission’s mandate to examine all evidence relating to the assassination and subsequent killing of Lee Harvey Oswald, as well as its authority to conduct further investigation and report its findings to the President.
Ford has boldly signed the document in blue ink along the lower right margin. The piece directly connects Ford’s later presidency with his earlier and highly consequential role as a member of the Warren Commission at one of the most pivotal moments in modern American history.
Fine condition.
Gerald R. Ford (1913–2006) served as the 38th President of the United States and previously as Vice President under Richard Nixon. Before assuming the presidency, Ford was a longtime Congressman from Michigan and a key member of the Warren Commission. His participation in the investigation and his continued public defense of its conclusions remained a defining element of his historical legacy.
