James Files (b. 1942) is a convicted felon who later claimed involvement in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, asserting that he fired a fatal shot from the grassy knoll. His claims—widely disputed by historians and rejected by official investigations—have nonetheless made him a recurring figure in assassination literature, documentaries, and conspiracy research. Autograph material from Files is scarce and remains highly sought after within specialized JFK assassination collections due to his enduring notoriety and the firsthand nature of his written accounts.
