Details:
John F. Kennedy scarce oversized double-sided propaganda poster declaring the President “Wanted for Treason,” listing seven alleged acts against the United States.
The broadside measures approximately 22.5 x 28.75 inches and is printed in English on one side and Italian on the reverse. Produced as a supplement to an Italian newspaper, the poster accuses Kennedy of offenses including “betraying the Constitution,” failing to enforce Communist registration laws, and alleged deceptions surrounding his personal life, marriage, and divorce.
Fine condition.
The poster exhibits even age toning and light age wear.
This broadside closely parallel the infamous “Wanted for Treason” handbills distributed on the streets of Dallas in the days leading up to Kennedy’s scheduled November 1963 visit. Those flyers—later examined by the Warren Commission—were traced to activist Robert A. Surrey, with testimony indicating approximately 5,000 copies were produced and circulated. While no direct personal connection between Surrey and Lee Harvey Oswald was established, the existence of such inflammatory propaganda underscores the charged political atmosphere surrounding the President in the final days of his life.
An example of the handbill sold at RR Auction in November of 2024 for $9,006.
A stark and unsettling artifact of Cold War–era political extremism, this poster stands as a rare and provocative example of anti-Kennedy propaganda from the period surrounding one of the most consequential events in American history.
