John F. Kennedy Western Union telegram sent during his tenure as U.S. Senator, conveying condolences to Mr. Hal Beaton of Escanaba, Michigan. The message, dated November 17, 1959, reads in part: “I am greatly shocked at the sad news. Please accept my deepest sympathy.” It is signed in type at the conclusion, “Senator Jack Kennedy.”
