A vintage reproduction print of antique Ukiyo-e woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige, from his series, "The Fifty-Three Stations of the TÅkaidÅ Road".
Twenty-Seventh Station: Fukuroi. Before arriving at the small town, a sort of refreshment bar, called in the title block "Dechaya", is run by a woman who rekindles the fire under the kettle. One of the palanquin bearers lights his pipe. On the left, the traveler carrying a saber whose handle is hidden by a sheath, is resting. On the right, a bird is perched on the official notice board. In the distance, the roofs of the station.

Comes from a rare art folio published by Editions du Credit Lyonnais in Paris, France, in 1960. Printed in France, on one side of high quality heavy paper. Blank back, numbered on the back: XXVIII.
Nearly excellent condition - minor edge wear, it was pinned in the past, two tiny holes very close to the top corners were smoothed and are barely visible, never framed.
