Condition
The chairs put together from older pieces, some parts possibly 18th century. The seats re-built. Each with scattered age and construction cracks; scattered nicks, chips, abrasions and losses; scattered insect holes/channels, most notably to the arms and legs. Each example with scattered losses and repairs including to the openwork carving beneath the proper right arm on one example. The other example with a split to the seat, a loss to the the splat towards the base and the finial detached but present. Each example sturdy and attractive overall with an antiqued patina. An advocate to all, his passing marked the loss of not only a master storyteller, but a tireless mentor and champion of writers’ and their rights.The collection presented here reflects the discernment, curiosity, and richly lived life of a man whose stories defined a genre.
