Condition
Overall with scattered age and construction cracks as expected; the surface with scattered wear including nicks, chips, abrasions, losses and insect damage commensurate with age and use. Various elements likely repurposed from older pieces and fitted together in the 19th century. Additional support blocks to the frame beneath the slate insert later added. The slate center insert with some scattered minor abrasions and staining and losses to the underside. Presents very well overall, sturdy and ready to place.

An advocate to all, his passing marked the loss of not only a master storyteller, but a tireless mentor and champion of writers’ and their rights.The collection presented here reflects the discernment, curiosity, and richly lived life of a man whose stories defined a genre.
