Description:"This was Jacoulet's first attempt at placing a traditional Japanese subject done in Western perspective into one of his floating negative spaces. The pastel blue-green background atmosphere surrounds the entire figure. The silver mica of the red lacquer mirror is printed over a lavender shadow of the Geisha's shoulder. The model, Kiyoka, turns her face away, showing the pink flushed nape of her neck above an obi with double-printed gold and silver metallic rectangles. This may be the most beautiful and subtle of the artist's Japanese subjects." (R. Miles)
