Description
Two etchings of lion pairs after Peter Paul RUBENS (Flemish, 1577-1640) by Abraham BLOOTELING (also spelled Bloteling) (Netherlandish, 1640-1690). Etchings on laid papers, each mounted on a second sheet of laid paper. Seemingly from a group of four prints, drawn by Bloteling and loosly based on lions painted by Rubens in various compositions. Each etching is framed with a gold fillet and drawn ink "framing" in brown and olive-green ink. Sheet size, each approximately: 9 1/8 x 10 5/8 inches.
