ARTIST: Ihor Tuzhikov is a contemporary Ukrainian plein-air painter and colorist. He captures quick, luminous states of nature—wide skies with sculpted clouds, blooming gardens, field paths, village yards with hens, and sunflower slopes by the water. Working from life, he paints “in one breath,” so the canvases feel airy and full of changing light. His language is an energetic, textured brushstroke and simplified shapes. Forms are built with bold color patches rather than fine detail: turquoise skies, warm yellows and ochres in grasses and flowers, lilac-rose half-tones in clouds, crisp flashes of white on roofs and trunks. The result is lyrical impressionism with a decorative, modern clarity.
