Marking(s); notes: Hotel Marquette Prints stamp
Materials: silkscreen on Lenox Museum Board
Dimensions (H, W, D): 34"h, 34"w; 44.25"h, 44.375"w frame
Additional Information: The silkscreen is based on Andy Warhol’s 1972 "Sunset" series, originally commissioned by the architecture firm Johnson & Burgee to decorate guest rooms at the Hotel Marquette in Minneapolis. Warhol created over 600 unique variations using three separate screens: one for the sun, one for the background color bands, and one for a dot pattern overlay. While signed and numbered examples from the original edition exist, this example bears only the "Hotel Marquette Prints" stamp and is not part of a documented edition. The work reflects Warhol’s use of repetition, vibrant color, and modular imagery within the Pop Art idiom.
