Description

Prostitutes in the Roman Empire were young and often slaves. They wore these distinctive rings to be easily recognized in the streets. Size 8. 1.7mm rounded band, stepped at the shoulders and topped with garish raised diamond shaped "stone", comically emulating the stone of the quality rings worn by cultured women. Prostitution was practiced openly in ancient Rome and some of the best evidence is in the remains of Pompeii. Many prostitutes were slaves. Surface textured from burial.
