ANCIENT VIKING ROPED OR TWIST WEDDING RING, SIZE 9 3/4

Description

Cambridgeshire, England, 866-1067 AD. Oval form, size 9 3/4, 1.5mm at the bottom swelling to 2.2mm at the top. The top 2/3 is a modeled roped motif (some wear from its use in antiquity). The spiral or helix was a favorite Viking form. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored. Vikings exchanged wedding rings on the pommel of the groom's sword.
