That area was the scene for many Crusades battles leading to the capture and defense of Constantinople. 13th century, Saracen, the European name for the Muslim opposition, of a form that evolved through the earlier crusades. Based on the earlier kite-shaped flesh-cutting arrows, these are abruptly thickened at the base of the point (or forward end of the bolster) to add mass and strength to penetrate the leather and iron mail armor of the Crusaders. 2 1/4" in length. Professionally stabilized excavated condition with certificate of authenticity.
