The plain form is generally acknowledged as exchange objects (money) and frequently are encountered with pieces chipped out. This example was clearly was more important and likely made for an important votive (sacrificial) purpose. As with the plainer examples, the bell edge has had chips removed. Found in Ireland, England (Scotland), and Western Europe. Very rarely encountered. Professionally refurbished with pure silver overlay on a modern polished leather neck cord.
