About the artist: Vadim Ivanovich Odaynik was born on July 29, 1925 in Odessa.
In 1930, the artist's family moved to Kiev.
In 1942, at the age of seventeen, Vadim Odaynik went to the front of the Great Patriotic War and served as a mechanic - a tank driver in the 4th Tank Army until 1945. He was seriously wounded, awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree, the Order of the Red Star and numerous medals.
In 1946 he entered the Kiev Art Institute and studied with I. Shtilman, V. Kostetsky, S. Grigoriev.
In November 1949, the painting of the young artist was exhibited at the 10th Ukrainian Art Exhibition, held at the State Museum of Ukrainian Art and the State Museum of Russian Art in Kiev.
In 1952, Odainik graduated from the institute, and his thesis "Dear Guests" was exhibited at the XI Exhibition of Fine Arts of the USSR.
Participant of city, republican all-union and foreign art exhibitions.
Since 1958 - a member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR.
The Carpathian Mountains became a source of creative fantasies and a theme for the plots of many paintings by V.I. Odainik. In Western Ukraine, he found picturesque landscapes, depicted the Hutsul life, ancient customs and portraits of local residents. The artist was especially delighted with the Hutsul weddings with their songs, dances and bright costumes. Thanks to a series of landscapes called "Carpathians" in 1971, the painter was awarded the title "Honored Artist of Ukraine".
In 1975, Odainik was awarded the State Prize to them for the works "Trinity Music", "The Red Forge", "Hutsul Wedding" and "Spring" T. Shevchenko in the field of culture and art, and for the painting "Trinity Music" in 1978 he was awarded the honorary title - "People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR".
In 1979 the album "Vadim Odainik" was released, dedicated to the artist's work.
The works of Vadim Ivanovich Odainik are presented in the Tretyakov Picture Gallery, in the galleries "The Matue" and "The Chambers Gallery" (England), "Kyushu" and "Gekoso" (Japan), in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, in museum and private collections in Ukraine , Austria, USA, France, Korea, Italy, Poland, Japan and other countries.
In July 2013, an exhibition of paintings by the Odaynik family entitled ?Art Dynasty of Ukraine? was held at the Zaporizhzhya Regional Art Museum. The exhibition featured 17 paintings from the museum fund, created both by Vadim Odainik himself and by his children - honored artists of Ukraine Sergey and Oksana, as well as Sergey's wife - Galina Borodai.
