About the artists: Born into a peasant family in Volyn. In 1881 he began to study the art of painting in Kovel from the artist-icon painter, in 1886-1889 he continued his studies in the painting workshop of the Pochaev Lavra. In 1889-1897 - a student at the Higher Art School at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg.
Pupil of the Russian artist and the Wanderer V. E. Makovsky (1899-1900).
Passed the course at the Pedagogical courses at the Academy.
Until 1915 he taught drawing and drafting in gymnasiums and colleges in Kovel, Konotop, Kremenets, Pochayev icon-painting workshops. From 1915 to the end of his life he lived and worked in Borzna in Chernihiv region, where in 1919 he organized and directed art courses, and in 1922 he initiated the creation of the Borznyansky local history museum, where he collected works by N. N. Ge. He headed the museum in the years 1922-1925.
