Description: WORLD ON GNOMONIC PROJECTION, II., America'. The map was originally engraved prior to or during the Texas Republic, and borders on the map have been drawn to show Texas as being part of Mexico. The hand colouring, applied at the date of publication in 1846, instead includes Texas within the United States, the state having acceded to the United States the previous year. The US/Mexican border shows the position prior to the Mexican-American War of 1846-1848. Cotidal lines are marked on the map by S.D.U.K. - Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge. Published 1846. Antique steel engraved map with original outline hand colouring. Size 32 x 31 cm | 12.5 x 12.0 inches. Condition: Fair: Some text and scribbles have been applied to the back of the map in ink, which shows through to the front somewhat below the "SO" of "South Pacific Ocean". Please note any other blemishes on the scan prior to purchasing this picture. There is nothing printed on the reverse side, which is plain.
