1960s Hand Painted Majolica Crest Blue White Yellow Decorative Wall Plate

Description

A hand painted blue, white and yellow decorative plate depicting the double-headed eagle, a favored imperial symbol of many royal houses from the Byzantine to Russian Empires. A single eagle version of this design is central to the great seal of the United States and the seal of the president of the United States. Even the Ramones riffed on this design! In excellent condition. There are areas of paint loss on the rim that appear to be purposeful and present from the time of production to age the piece.
