Description:Guy Rowbury (b. 1946). Lives in Montana. Original Acrylic painting on board, Snow Falling on a Farm in Winter, 8" x 16" acrylic on board (framed size: 13" x 21") signed lower left. Frame has some discolorations and nicks. I sent a photograph of this to Guy Rowbury and he says it is one of his earliest works from the early 1970s when he still painted in acrylic before painting mainly in gouache in the later 70s, although he paints in acrylic, gouache or watercolor to this day. He believes it was sold in a Santa Barbara Art Show, the weekend art shows by the beach when he lived in the early 1970s and painted with his father and brother who were also artists. He also told me he lived in San Diego in the past and presently lives in Montana year round. I asked him the place of the painting and he says the place is from his imagination because he loves to paint barns, farms and snow scenes. He sent me a photo of one of his most recent paintings of tepees and it was lovely to see. He reminded me that he has been painting for over 55 years. I spoke to him and his wife by phone and they are some of the nicest people I have ever spoken to. Wonderful people and Mr. Rowbury paints terrific paintings.
A resident of Ronan, Montana, landscape painter Guy Rowbury was born in Idaho Falls in 1946 and learned to paint by watching his father and brother, both professional artists.
In the 1970s, he was a professional bowler and then turned to painting full time. His special media are acrylic, gouache and watercolor. He has had a special two-man show with Nick Eggenhoffer. His work has also been featured in the C.M. Russell Show in Great Falls, Montana, the Classic American Western Art Show in Beverly Hills, California and the Boise Art Museum Show in Idaho.
