Description
Offered fresh from a local estate is this fantastic vintage Mid Century Modern abstract bronze sculpture of a horse or dog? mounted on marble. The sculpture is made of a cut and bent bronze plate or thick bronze sheet. It’s not in the traditional form of cast bronze that is used most commonly in sculpture. The piece features an overall form that’s reminiscent of Alberto Giacometti’s work “Dog” but the flowing, linear figure is also very similar to the work of well known American sculptor Mary Callery who’s sculptures have been described as “drawings in metal”. This work is Brutalist Surrealist so we can only guess that it might be a horse or dog?. View photos for your own vision of this work.
This mid size table sculpture measures about 20" at longest, 13-1/2" at highest and 3" wide. The black marble base measures about 16" by 8". We do not notice any signature. The piece is in very good vintage condition with some light wear to the green patina on the figures nose. We note no damage to the marble base. Please view photos closely for details and condition.
