About Artist Adedoyin Adelani (Bello) is a female painter and embroiderer. She is an indigene of Ogun State, born and brought up in Lagos State. Adedoyin had her primary, secondary, and tertiary education in Lagos state, she obtained a National Diploma (ND) in Mass Communication and further, enrolled in Art and Industrial Design at Lagos State Polytechnic Ikorodu now Lagos State University of Technology where she obtained both National and Higher National Diploma in painting. Adedoyin's artworks take a critical view of social and cultural issues often referencing the portraits of African Women and children. Adedoyin is a member of the Female Artist Association of Nigeria (FEAAN) and Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), she was a one-time winner of a Master Class workshop organized by the Nigerian-German Center for Jobs, immigration and re-integration (giz) and a participant of the workshop with a Spanish Artist Ramon Trígo organized by Spanish Embassy Abuja, Adedoyin has participated in several group exhibitions both locally and internationally and has won major awards in international art competition India and local art competition Best Art month competition by Best Liquor, She is presently the coordinator of Female Artist Association of Nigeria (FEAAN) Southwest Zone. ARTIST STATEMENT Art remains a strong contender in how we share our thoughts and ideas therefore, my artistic practice takes a critical view of African women and children, the focus of my works is on creating imagery that elicits deep emotions through the spontaneous rendition of the human facial expression looking at my artworks put you inside a moment of expression, laughter, sadness, confusion, heartbreak, strength and bliss shared in a single expression of an African woman.
