Description
Large example just under 1” (0.94”)” width of the flat form, made by the open face mold process. The cusped top formed by low relief scrolls. Nubs at the quarter-point defining a saltire. The heart is in the later, stylized form with cusped top crisply delineated. Vikings used this and the natural form with a rounded top. Both forms are used profusely in Nordic literature. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored on an 18” gilt sterling silver neck chain, for modern wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity. Superior example.
