Provenance: private collection, France Gabriel Jules-Charles Girodon (1884–1941) was a French painter, sculptor, and designer renowned for his religious artworks, portraits, and contributions to ecclesiastical art in early 20th-century France. He won the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1912 for his painting Œdipe sur les corps de ses enfants and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Girodon also contributed to stained glass design, creating cartoons for windows in churches such as Saint-Martin in Gasny, Saint-Sulpice in Limetz-Villez, and Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix in Ribérac.
