About the artist:
Diana Thorne (1894/95 -1963) was noted American animal painter, illustrator and author. Born in Odessa, Russia, she studied in Germany, becoming well-known here in the 1920s with an initial foray into commercial artwork in New York City. She illustrated and sometimes authored around fifty children's books about dogs and animal life. A sportswoman and dog owner herself, she received much acclaim for her dog etchings in which she captures motions and actions of the animals. This print show her aptitude for the capturing the canine personality.
