Description
Vintage and charming, colorful small painting on burlap over board by Carol Rowan. The painting measures 9 inches tall by 7.25 inches wide and is 1 inch deep. And is in excellent condition. I believe it is acrylic but could be oil, I am not sure.
Carol Rowan is a native of Connecticut, Carol Rowan received her B.F.A. in painting at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, in 1986. She began showing her large scale drawings, oil paintings, gouaches, and prints in group exhibitions at venues such as the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, Maryland; Gerald Peters Gallery in Santa Fe; and Gallery Henoch in New York City. Favorite subjects include architecture, landscapes, harbor scenes, and portraits.
In 1993 Rowan received the Metropolitan Museum of Art Drawing Award in an exhibition at the National Arts Club. She has since exhibited at several other major venues, including the Corcoran Museum of Art, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the Washington National Cathedral.
Rowan has had solo shows at several galleries across the country, including the Alla Rogers Gallery in Washington, D.C., OK Harris and Hollis Taggart Galleries in New York City, Vose Contemporary in Boston, and Ovsey Gallery in Los Angeles. The artist splits her time between studios in Washington, DC, and Nobleboro, Maine
