Antique Impressed Registrirt 5 Well Oyster Plate 1880's w/Gold Trim from Germany
Beautiful antique oyster plate from Germany circa 1880s with gold gilt trim and accents. The plate has 5 wells with a pie crimp edge and measures 8 3/8" across. The back of the plate is impressed with the word Registrirt. This is not a typographical error, but the older form of the German word registriert which means "registered". This early form of copyright showed the item was registered under the local authority and generally used in the late 1800s.
Book reference: Karsnitz pg. 10 The plate is unmarked.
The oyster plate measures 8 3/8" in width and 1" in Height.
