John Garfield (1913–1952) was one of Hollywood’s most influential actors of the 1940s, known for bringing a raw, modern realism to the screen that helped redefine American film acting. Rising to prominence in films such as Four Daughters, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Body and Soul, and Force of Evil, Garfield often portrayed conflicted, working-class antiheroes. His career and life were cut tragically short, but his impact on film noir and dramatic performance remains profound, making signed period photographs from his prime especially significant.
