James Van Pelt Jr., B-29 navigator, signed First Day of Issue Canadian cover commemorating World War II (1939–1945), issued November 10, 1989. The cover features wartime imagery and Canadian postage, postmarked Ottawa, Ontario, on the official day of issue. Autographed by James Van Pelt Jr., with a handwritten inscription identifying his service as navigator on the Nagasaki atomic bomb flight and navigator on the Hiroshima instrument flight.

James Van Pelt Jr. (1919–2014) was a United States Army Air Forces navigator who flew on both atomic missions in World War II. He served as navigator aboard Bockscar during the Nagasaki mission on August 9, 1945, and as navigator on the Hiroshima instrument aircraft on August 6, 1945. Van Pelt later reflected publicly on his wartime service and its historical significance.
