Janusz Żurakowski autographed First Day Cover commemorating the 50th anniversary of Canada’s entry into World War II. The cover bears a November 10, 1989 Ottawa, Ontario postmark and features period imagery related to Canada’s wartime mobilization and air training efforts. Żurakowski’s signature is signed in blue ink across the front.

Janusz Żurakowski (1914–2004) was a Polish-born Canadian test pilot and aeronautical engineer best known for his work with Avro Canada. A decorated World War II fighter pilot, he later became chief experimental test pilot for the Avro CF-100 Canuck and the legendary Avro Arrow. Żurakowski was instrumental in advancing jet aviation in Canada during the Cold War era. He remains one of the most respected figures in Canadian aerospace history.
