Bob Champine, Fred J. Ascani, and R.J. Harer autographed this 5.25 x 3.25” off-white card signed in black ink, with Ascani additionally inscribing “X-1 Pilot Selection.” These three pioneering figures were instrumental in America’s early high-speed flight research programs. Champine was among the first test pilots to fly rocket-powered aircraft; Ascani, a decorated Air Force general, oversaw experimental flight testing and evaluation during the dawn of the jet age; and Harer contributed to crucial aerodynamic development and testing.
