Walt Cunningham autographed First Day Cover commemorating the 500th anniversary of the birth of astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. Postmarked April 23, 1973, in Washington, D.C., the cover features a striking ArtCraft cachet depicting Copernicus and his heliocentric model of the solar system. Cunningham has signed prominently in blue ink above the postmark.

Walt Cunningham (1932–2023) was a NASA astronaut and Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 7, the first crewed mission in the Apollo program. A physicist and Marine Corps pilot, Cunningham helped pave the way for future lunar landings through this critical 1968 Earth-orbit test flight. His signature on a science-themed cover offers collectors a unique intersection of astronomy and spaceflight history.
