Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay multi-signed souvenir cover commemorating the Silver Jubilee of the first ascent of Mount Everest, postmarked at Namche Bazar on May 29, 1978. The illustrated cover honors the historic 1953 ascent and bears clear signatures in blue and black ink from Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, accompanied by additional contemporary signatories connected to the commemorative flight and organization of the issue, including Captain S. S. Gill (helicopter pilot), Captain N. Buckley (Patron, Australian Air Mail Society), Nelson Eustis (Secretary), Vola Eustis (passenger), and E. W. Roberts (President, Australian Air Mail Society; signed to the verso).

The cover is attractively produced with Everest-themed artwork and period Nepalese stamps, cancelled “First Day of Issue” at Namche Bazar. Verso cachets document carriage on a Royal Nepal Airlines helicopter flight associated with the jubilee observances. Individually signed examples such as this were issued in a strictly limited edition; this example is numbered 327 of 500.

Sir Edmund Hillary (1919–2008) was a New Zealand mountaineer, explorer, and humanitarian who, alongside Tenzing Norgay, achieved the first confirmed ascent of Mount Everest on May 29, 1953. Beyond Everest, Hillary devoted decades to philanthropy in Nepal, building schools, hospitals, and infrastructure through the Himalayan Trust.

Tenzing Norgay (1914–1986) was a Nepalese-Indian Sherpa mountaineer whose skill and leadership were central to the success of the 1953 British expedition. Revered throughout the Himalayas, Norgay became an enduring symbol of Sherpa expertise and played a vital role in opening high-altitude mountaineering to the modern world.
